1About GameUp Academy

GameUp Academy is an online learning platform designed to help learners develop practical skills for careers in game development and related creative and technical fields.

The Platform may provide features including:

• Learning pathways
• Courses, lessons and quizzes
• Practical assignments and projects
• Skills and XP progression
• Pathway recommendations
• AI-powered learning tools
• Project and portfolio features
• Completion records, badges and credentials
• Game jams and other learning activities
• Community and mentorship features
• Career and opportunity information
• Facilitator feedback and assessment

Some features may be introduced, modified, restricted or removed as the Platform develops.

2Eligibility

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms in the country where you live.

If you are below the age at which you can independently enter into a binding agreement, you may only use GameUp Academy with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.

Certain programmes, cohorts, competitions, credentials or opportunities may have additional eligibility requirements, including age, location, experience or participation requirements.

Meeting the requirements to create a GameUp Academy account does not automatically make you eligible for every programme or opportunity offered through the Platform.

3Your Account

Some parts of GameUp Academy require you to create an account.

When creating and using an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and current information
• Keep your account information reasonably up to date
• Keep your password and login credentials confidential
• Not allow another person to use your account
• Not create an account using another person's identity
• Notify us if you believe your account has been compromised

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the activity results from circumstances reasonably outside your control.

We may take reasonable steps to verify account information or identity where necessary for security, programme administration, credentials or other Platform functions.

4Learning Pathways and Recommendations

GameUp Academy may use information you provide during onboarding, assessments or Platform activity to recommend courses, learning pathways, skills or other opportunities.

Recommendations are intended to support your learning journey. They are not guarantees that a particular pathway is the best option for you or that completing a pathway will result in employment or any particular professional outcome.

Where the Platform allows it, you may be able to select, change or pursue pathways other than those initially recommended to you.

5Courses and Learning Content

GameUp Academy may provide educational materials including:

• Videos
• Written lessons
• Quizzes
• Exercises
• Downloadable materials
• Assignments
• Project briefs
• Templates
• Links
• AI-assisted learning content
• Other educational resources

Course content may be updated, corrected, replaced or reorganised as the curriculum and relevant industries develop.

We do not guarantee that every course, pathway, lesson or resource will remain available indefinitely.

Unless otherwise stated, access to course materials is granted for your personal learning and development and not for commercial redistribution.

6Assignments, Projects and Submissions

GameUp Academy is designed around practical learning. You may therefore be required or permitted to submit work such as:

• Written responses
• Code
• Images
• Artwork
• Audio
• Video
• Game builds
• Project files
• External links
• GitHub repositories
• Portfolio links
• Other creative or technical work

You remain responsible for the work you submit.

You confirm that:

• You created the work yourself or have the necessary rights to submit it
• Your submission does not unlawfully infringe another person's intellectual property or other rights
• Your submission does not contain unlawful or harmful material
• You have disclosed third-party or AI-generated material where required by the relevant course, assignment or programme rules

GameUp Academy may review submissions for learning, assessment, moderation, quality assurance and Platform administration.

7Ownership of Your Work

You retain ownership of intellectual property rights you hold in projects, assignments, artwork, code, audio, writing and other original work you submit to GameUp Academy.

By submitting content to the Platform, you grant GameUp Academy a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, display and process that content where reasonably necessary to:

• Operate the Platform
• Review or assess your work
• Provide feedback
• Maintain your learning records
• Display the work in your profile or portfolio where you choose to do so
• Operate a showcase or game jam in which you have chosen to participate
• Maintain evidence associated with completion records or credentials

This licence does not transfer ownership of your work to GameUp Academy.

We will not use a learner's private submission for unrelated commercial advertising or promotional purposes merely because it was submitted for assessment.

Where we want to feature your work in marketing, promotional materials or other uses outside the normal operation of the Platform, we may request additional permission where appropriate.

8Public Content and Showcase Features

Some features may allow you to make projects, portfolio information, profile information or other content visible to other users or to the public.

You are responsible for deciding what information you choose to make public.

By intentionally publishing content through a public GameUp Academy feature, you grant us permission to display and distribute that content through the relevant Platform feature for as long as it remains published.

You may be able to change the visibility of your content or remove it, subject to Platform functionality and any legitimate record-keeping requirements.

Information shared publicly may be viewed, copied or shared by other people outside GameUp Academy.

9Academic Integrity and Authentic Work

You are expected to participate honestly in GameUp Academy learning activities.

You must not:

• Submit another person's work as your own
• Plagiarise assignments or project work
• Falsify completion evidence
• Manipulate quiz or assessment results
• Artificially generate XP, levels or achievements
• Circumvent course or pathway requirements
• Impersonate another learner
• Submit work you do not have permission to use
• Manipulate voting, judging or ranking systems
• Use automated systems to complete activities where doing so is not permitted

Use of AI tools may be permitted or encouraged in some learning activities.

Where a course or assessment requires you to disclose AI assistance or demonstrate your own work, you must follow those requirements.

GameUp Academy may reject work, remove progress, revoke an achievement or take other reasonable action where learning records were obtained through fraud, cheating or manipulation.

10AI-Powered Features

GameUp Academy may provide artificial intelligence features to support learning and Platform navigation.

AI may be used to:

• Provide explanations
• Answer learning-related questions
• Assist with prompts
• Recommend pathways or content
• Support feedback
• Help users navigate the Platform
• Assist with creative or technical learning activities

AI-generated information may be incomplete, inaccurate or inappropriate for a particular situation.

You should use your own judgement and verify important information.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, AI-generated responses do not constitute final academic assessment, professional advice or a guarantee that submitted work is correct.

You must not enter passwords, payment credentials, government identification numbers or unnecessary sensitive personal information into AI features.

We may apply usage limits, moderation systems or other safeguards to AI functionality.

11Completion Records, Badges and Credentials

GameUp Academy may issue completion records, certificates, badges, credentials or other evidence of learning.

Eligibility may depend on requirements such as:

• Completing specified courses
• Completing required lessons or assessments
• Submitting practical work
• Receiving approval for required work
• Reaching defined skill or progression requirements
• Meeting programme-specific criteria

GameUp Academy may withhold or revoke a completion record or credential where it was obtained through fraud, misrepresentation, cheating or a significant violation of these Terms.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, a GameUp Academy credential is evidence of completing the relevant GameUp Academy requirements and does not represent a professional licence, university degree or government-regulated qualification.

Where credentials are delivered with or recognised by a third-party institution, additional terms or requirements may apply.

12Employment and Career Opportunities

GameUp Academy may provide information about jobs, internships, freelance work, externships, game jams, competitions or other professional opportunities.

GameUp Academy does not guarantee:

• Employment
• Freelance work
• Internships
• Income
• A particular salary
• Admission into another programme
• Selection by an employer
• Investment or funding
• Commercial success of a learner project

Unless expressly stated otherwise, external opportunities are provided for informational purposes and decisions about recruitment or selection are made by the relevant third party.

13Community Features and User Conduct

GameUp Academy may provide or link to community spaces, mentorship programmes, game jams, discussions or other collaborative activities.

You agree to treat other learners, facilitators, mentors, staff and community members respectfully.

You must not use GameUp Academy to:

• Harass, threaten, abuse or intimidate another person
• Promote hatred, discrimination or violence
• Post unlawful, fraudulent or deliberately misleading content
• Share another person's private information without permission
• Upload malware, viruses or harmful software
• Send spam or unsolicited commercial messages
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts or systems
• Interfere with the operation or security of the Platform
• Scrape or systematically extract Platform data without permission
• Circumvent access, security or usage restrictions
• Exploit Platform bugs or vulnerabilities
• Manipulate rankings, votes, XP, assessments or other Platform systems
• Use the Platform for unlawful purposes

We may moderate, restrict or remove content that violates these Terms or applicable community rules.

14Game Jams, Competitions and Events

GameUp Academy may organise or promote game jams, competitions, challenges, workshops or other events.

Specific events may have additional rules covering matters such as:

• Eligibility
• Registration
• Teams
• Submission deadlines
• Judging criteria
• Voting
• Intellectual property
• Prizes
• Participant conduct

Where specific event rules conflict with these Terms, the event-specific rules will apply to that event to the extent of the conflict.

External game jams or events promoted through GameUp Academy may be operated by third parties. GameUp Academy is not responsible for the operation of third-party events unless expressly stated otherwise.

15Third-Party Services

GameUp Academy may link to or integrate with third-party tools and services.

These may include:

• Game engines
• Development tools
• GitHub or other code repositories
• itch.io or similar publishing services
• Google Drive or other storage services
• Creative software
• Communication platforms
• Community platforms
• Video services
• AI services
• Payment providers
• Other educational or professional tools

Your use of a third-party service may be governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy.

GameUp Academy does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their availability, content, security or practices.

A link or integration does not necessarily mean that GameUp Academy endorses every product, service or statement offered by the third party.

16GameUp Academy Intellectual Property

Except for learner content and third-party material, the Platform and its content are owned by or licensed to GameUp Academy or its operator.

This may include:

• The GameUp Academy name and logo
• Platform design
• Software
• Course structures
• Original course materials
• Graphics
• Videos
• Illustrations
• Text
• Assessments
• Skill frameworks
• Platform features
• User interface elements
• Documentation

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to access and use the Platform for its intended educational purposes.

You may not, without appropriate permission:

• Reproduce or redistribute substantial parts of the Platform
• Sell or commercially exploit GameUp Academy course content
• Remove copyright, trademark or ownership notices
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract Platform source code except where permitted by law
• Copy the Platform for the purpose of creating a competing service
• Use GameUp Academy trademarks or branding in a misleading manner

17Feedback

We welcome suggestions, ideas and feedback about GameUp Academy.

If you voluntarily provide feedback about the Platform, you allow us to use that feedback to improve, develop and operate GameUp Academy without an obligation to compensate you.

This does not give us ownership of unrelated projects or creative work that you submit as part of your learning.

18Free and Paid Services

GameUp Academy may offer free, sponsored, institutional or paid access to different features.

Where paid products or subscriptions are introduced, information about:

• Prices
• Billing periods
• Payment methods
• Renewal
• Cancellation
• Refunds
• Applicable taxes

will be presented through the relevant purchasing process or additional terms.

You must agree to any applicable payment terms before being charged.

Certain learners may receive access through sponsors, institutions, partners or other programmes. Such access may be subject to additional conditions associated with that programme.

19Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by the GameUp Academy Privacy Policy.

By using the Platform, you acknowledge that your personal information will be handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

20Platform Availability

We aim to provide a reliable learning experience, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access to GameUp Academy.

Access may occasionally be interrupted because of:

• Maintenance
• Updates
• Security issues
• Internet or hosting outages
• Third-party service failures
• Technical problems
• Events outside our reasonable control

We may modify, update or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for technical, educational, operational, security or commercial reasons.

Where practical, we will seek to avoid unnecessary disruption to active learners.

21Beta and Experimental Features

From time to time, GameUp Academy may make experimental, beta or preview features available.

These features may:

• Be unavailable from time to time
• Be withdrawn
• Produce incomplete or inaccurate results

You use beta or experimental features with an understanding that they are still being tested.

22Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate access to GameUp Academy where reasonably necessary, including where:

• You seriously or repeatedly violate these Terms
• You engage in fraud or cheating
• You threaten the security of the Platform
• Your account is being used unlawfully
• Your conduct creates a material risk to other users
• We are required to do so by law
• A programme or access period has ended
• Continued access is no longer reasonably possible

Where appropriate, we may provide notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue before terminating an account.

You may stop using GameUp Academy at any time.

The treatment of your personal information following account closure is described in our Privacy Policy.

23Disclaimer

GameUp Academy is provided for educational and professional-development purposes.

While we aim to provide high-quality learning experiences, the Platform and its content are provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law.

We do not guarantee that:

• The Platform will always be uninterrupted or error-free
• Every piece of educational content will be free from errors
• Completing a course will result in employment
• A particular employer will recognise a credential
• Participation will result in income or commercial success
• AI-generated information will always be accurate
• Third-party services linked from the Platform will remain available

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, right or protection that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

24Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GameUp Academy and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses resulting from your use of or inability to use the Platform.

This may include losses resulting from:

• Third-party services
• Loss of data outside our reasonable control
• External employment or commercial decisions
• Reliance on AI-generated content
• Unauthorised access caused by a user's failure to protect their credentials
• Events beyond our reasonable control

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

25Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for reasonable losses, claims or expenses arising directly from:

• Content you unlawfully upload or submit
• Your infringement of another person's rights
• Fraudulent or unlawful use of the Platform
• A serious violation of these Terms

This section does not make you responsible for matters caused by GameUp Academy's own actions or failures.

26Changes to these Terms

GameUp Academy will continue to develop, and we may update these Terms from time to time.

Where changes are material, we may provide notice through the Platform, by email or through another reasonable method.

The updated Terms will show a revised effective date.

If you continue using GameUp Academy after updated Terms take effect, your continued use will be governed by the updated Terms, subject to applicable law.

27Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and your use of GameUp Academy are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

If a dispute arises, we encourage you to contact us first so that we can attempt to resolve the matter directly.

Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, and subject to any rights you have under applicable consumer or data protection laws, disputes relating to these Terms or the Platform will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

28General Terms

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

Our failure to enforce a provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce it later.

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person without our permission.

We may transfer our rights or obligations as part of a restructuring, merger, acquisition or transfer of the GameUp Academy business, subject to applicable law.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms applicable to a specific programme, event or service, form the agreement governing your use of GameUp Academy.
